Painted Skies Over East Central Minnesota:
October 12, 2004
Persons in eastern Minnesota were able to see an atmospheric optical treat during the evening of Tuesday October 12, 2004. Sundogs, a 22 degree radius halo and an upper tangent arc could be seen in the western sky. These features are caused by ice crystals floating in the air. The crystals refract and reflect the light and display a pretty pallet of color.
