Latest First 80 degree temperature for the Twin Cities

The cool spring of 2008 continues with May likely the 4th month in a row with a monthly average temperature below normal in the Twin Cities. One artifact of this cool spring is the fact that the International Airport has not seen an 80 degree temperature yet. The latest date for the first 80 degree temperature in the Twin Cities (using records from 1891-2007) is June 12th. This has happened on two occasions: on June 12 in 1924 and 1935. The median date of the first 80 degree temperature for the Twin Cities is May 1. The earliest 80 degree temperature in the Twin Cities was March 23, 1910. Last year in 2007, the first 80 degree temperature was on March 26, which is the second earliest on record.
