Second Warmest April 1-10 on Record for the Twin Cities

The first ten days of April, 2005 in the Twin Cities is the second warmest start of April on record. The average temperature from the first through the tenth was 54.9 degrees, which would be more typical for the first week of May. The only year to have a warmer beginning for April was in 1910 with an average temperature of 55.4 degrees. The warm April sped up the ice out process over central Minnesota with Minnetonka and White Bear Lake free of ice four days earlier than normal.
