Streak of 34 Consecutive Days of Above Normal Average Daily Temperatures for the Twin Cities.

With the arrival of arctic air on January 12th, the streak of above normal average daily temperatures appears to be over for the Twin Cities. If the forecast holds for today, the Twin Cities will have an average daily temperature of 9 degrees, or three degrees below normal. From December 9, 2006 to January 11, 2007 the average temperature was above normal for 34 days. While this is an impressive stretch, it does not come close to the record. From October 28 to December 23, 2001 the average daily temperature was above normal for 57 consecutive days.
