A Balmy Start to Minnesota's Winter
Late November and early December was extraordinarily warm across most of Minnesota. Many maximum temperature records were set. Below you will find record reports released by National Weather Service offices. These reports offer information for a handful of Minnesota's larger cities and some of the larger border cities. Most certainly, records were also set for other, smaller communities.
RECORD EVENT REPORT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TWIN CITIES/CHANHASSEN MN 300 PM CST SUN NOV 22 1998 A NEW RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS REACHED AT 300PM AT THE TWIN CITIES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WITH A READING OF 59 DEGREES. THIS BEATS THE PREVIOUS RECORD OF 58 SET IN 1980. PAULSON

THE LOW TEMPERATURE YESTERDAY NOVEMBER 25TH AT THE LA CROSSE AIRPORT WAS 42 DEGREES. THIS WAS WARMER THAN THE PREVIOUS RECORD HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD HIGH MINIMUM WAS 39 DEGREES SET BACK IN 1915. WITH THE WEATHER PATTERN TO REMAIN RELATIVELY UNCHANGED THROUGH THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND...MORE RECORD WARM MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES ARE POSSIBLE.

THE LOW TEMPERATURE YESTERDAY NOVEMBER 25TH AT THE ROCHESTER AIRPORT WAS 36 DEGREES. THIS WAS WARMER THAN THE PREVIOUS RECORD HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD HIGH MINIMUM WAS 35 DEGREES SET BACK IN 1961. WITH THE WEATHER PATTERN TO REMAIN RATHER UNCHANGED THROUGH THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND...MORE RECORD WARM MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES ARE POSSIBLE.
