Streaks of at or Below Zero Minimum Temperatures for the Twin Cities
For ten days in a row from February 1-10 2007, the mercury fell to zero or below on each consecutive day. While rare in recent winters, this kind of streak is fairly common in the historical record. The last time there was a stretch longer than this was in January 1999 with twelve days. The winter of 1995-96 had a streak of over two weeks' worth of zero or colder minimums with 15 days. The record is a bone chilling 36 days from January 18, 1936 to February 22, 1936.
