A Cold Morning in the Northland - July 19, 2000

The cold temperatures from July 18 continued into the morning of July 19. A National Weather Service cooperator south of Tower reported a morning low of 29 degrees. Embarrass reported 31 degrees. July temperatures in the 20's are very rare in Minnesota. Here are all reported July minimum temperatures of less than 30 degrees in the historical record.

Grand Marais:
July 4, 1950 - 28 degrees

Tower 3S:
July 4, 1972 - 27 degrees
July 12, 1975 - 27 degrees
July 7, 1980 - 28 degrees
July 26, 1980 - 27 degrees
July 7, 1997 - 24 degrees

Two Harbors:
July 30, 1964 - 27 degrees
