Chilly September 15, 2007

Cold Canadian air settled over Minnesota on Saturday September 15th and produced some record cold minimum temperatures. The minimum temperature record for September 15th from 1964 at the Twin Cities International Airport was tied with a low of 36. Rochester had a low of 32 degrees and this broke the old record of 35 degrees set in 1964. The coldest temperature found in Minnesota was 18 degrees at Embarrass. Widespread frost was reported in many areas in central and southern Minnesota and effectively ended the growing season for tender plants.
