The cold temperature trend in Minnesota continued (in spades) over the weekend of August 16-17, 1997. The high temperature at Itasca State Park on Saturday was only 57 degrees F, a new cold maximum temperature record for August 16th, beating the old record cold daytime high of 60 degree F in 1924. On Sunday (August 17th) cold afternoon high temperatures were the order of the day all over Minnesota.
