A LOOK BACK AT JULY IN THE NORTHLAND...RECORD DRY JULY AT DULUTH
JULY 2005 BROUGHT DRIER AND WARMER THAN NORMAL CONDITIONS TO DULUTH,
WHILE INTERNATIONAL FALLS ENDED RIGHT AROUND NORMAL.
PRECIPITATION

DULUTH FINISHED AS THE 4TH DRIEST JULY IN THE ALL TIME RECORD, WHICH
DATES BACK 135 YEARS. JULY 2005 ALSO TOOK OVER THE NUMBER ONE SPOT AS
THE DRIEST JULY IN THE AIRPORT RECORD, WHICH BEGAN IN 1941.
THE DRIEST JULY IN THE ALL TIME RECORD AT DULUTH WAS 1875 WITH JUST 0.47
INCHES OF PRECIPITATION. THIS JULY, THE DULUTH AIRPORT RECORDED 0.82 INCHES
OF PRECIPITATION. THE NORMAL PRECIPITATION AMOUNT FOR THIS MONTH AT DULUTH IS
4.2 INCHES, PLACING THIS JULY 3.38 INCHES BELOW NORMAL.
HOWEVER, INTERNATIONAL FALLS REGISTERED NEAR NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR JULY,
WITH A TOTAL OF 3.46 INCHES. THIS IS 0.09 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.
TEMPERATURE

ALTHOUGH DULUTH AND INTERNATIONAL FALLS REACHED THE UPPER 80S AND EVEN 90
MULTIPLE TIME THIS JULY, BOTH LOCATIONS ENDED FAIRLY CLOSE TO NORMAL. DULUTH
CAME IN WITH AN AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE OF 67.6, WHICH IS 2.1 DEGREES
ABOVE NORMAL. INTERNATIONAL FALLS HAD AN AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE OF 66
DEGREES, WHICH IS JUST 0.1 DEGREE BELOW NORMAL. DAILY RECORDS

THERE WERE EVEN A FEW DAILY LOW RECORDS SET THIS MONTH AT INTERNATIONAL FALLS.
A RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE OF 36 DEGREES WAS SET AT INTERNATIONAL FALLS JULY 29TH,
AROUND 410 AM. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 39 DEGREES SET IN 1997.
A RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE OF 43 DEGREES WAS SET AT INTERNATIONAL FALLS JULY 28TH.
THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 44 SET IN 1952.
