Heavy Rains Fall on Southeast Minnesota
May 31 and June 1, 2000
Numerous thunderstorms dropped heavy rains over south central and
southeastern Minnesota on May 31 and June 1. The heavy rains began over southern Minnesota during the
afternoon on May 31 and continued through the afternoon of June 1. Precipitation totals ranged from two to five
inches across a multi-county area. The heavy rains hit in the same area that received 3 to 6 inches of rain on
May 17 to May 18. Flooding was reported mainly in Mower and Fillmore Counties. Parts of Interstate 90 were closed
near Austin due to high water.
