FEBRUARY...THE WARMER AND DRIER THAN NORMAL CONDITIONS CONTINUED THROUGH FEBRUARY. THE ALL-TIME RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR FEBRUARY WAS BROKEN ON THE 22ND WHEN THE TEMPERATURE REACHED 58 DEGREES...THE OLD RECORD WAS 55 SET IN 1991. FEBRUARY 2000 WAS THE 9TH WARMEST FEBRUARY AND THE 6TH LEAST SNOWIEST FEBRUARY ON RECORD. OTHER DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE SET ON THE 21ST WITH A HIGH OF 50...ON THE 23RD WITH A HIGH OF 49...AND ON THE 27TH WITH A HIGH OF 43. THE RECORD HIGH WAS TIED ON THE 28TH WITH 44 DEGREES. FEBRUARY MARKED THE SEASONAL END OF WINTER (DEC 1999-FEB 2000)...WHICH WENT INTO THE RECORD BOOK AS THE 9TH WARMEST ON RECORD WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 13.7 DEGREES FOR THE SEASON. MARCH...ALSO WENT INTO THE RECORD BOOKS...AS THE 4TH WARMEST MARCH OF ALL TIME. NEW RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURES WERE SET ON 5 CONSECUTIVE DAYS...A HIGH OF 60 ON THE 3RD BROKE THE RECORD HIGH OF 52 SET IN 1994...56 ON THE 4TH BROKE THE HIGH OF 52 SET IN 1994...67 ON THE 5TH BROKE THE HIGH OF 53 SET IN 1994...66 ON THE 6TH BROKE THE HIGH OF 60 SET IN 1987...AND 67 ON THE 7TH BROKE THE HIGH OF 56 SET IN 1987. ANOTHER RECORD BOOK ENTRY FOR MARCH WAS THE FACT THAT 1.4 INCHES OF SNOWFALL MADE IT THE 3RD LEAST SNOWIEST MARCH OF ALL-TIME. APRIL...THE CHANGES IN THE WEATHER PATTERN STARTED TO TAKE HOLD AT INTERNATIONAL FALLS IN APRIL. NEAR NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND PRECIPITATION WERE RECORDED...WITH A TEMPERATURE DEPARTURE OF +0.2 DEGREES FROM NORMAL...AND THE PRECIPITATION DEPARTURE OF +0.07 INCHES FROM NORMAL. THERE WERE NO NEW DAILY TEMPERATURE OR PRECIPITATION RECORDS BROKEN OR TIED DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL. MAY...NEAR NORMAL CONDITIONS CONTINUED THROUGH MAY. ALTHOUGH ONLY SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL...THE TEMPERATURE WAS 1.7 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL AND PRECIPITATION WAS ONLY 0.10 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL. THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 3.9 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL AND PRECIPITATION WAS 0.13 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL. A NEW RECORD LOW OF 33 DEGREES WAS SET ON THE 5TH...WHERE THE PREVIOUS RECORD LOW WAS 35 SET IN 1985. ALSO...A NEW RECORD LOW OF 35 DEGREES WAS SET ON THE 19TH...THE PREVIOUS WAS 38 SET IN 1952. JULY...WAS ONLY 0.5 DEGREES BELOW AVERAGE NORMAL TEMPERATURE AND THE PRECIPITATION WAS 0.85 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. NO DAILY RECORDS FOR TEMPERATURE OR PRECIPITION WERE TIED OR BROKEN. AUGUST...NO NEW DAILY TEMPERATURE OR PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET OR TIED DURING AUGUST, 2000. THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE SUMMER OF 2000 WAS 62.5 DEGREES WHICH WAS 1.5 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THE TOTAL PRECIPITATION FOR THE SUMMER SEASON WAS 10.92 INCHES WHICH WAS 0.29 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL. SEPTEMBER...THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 1.3 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL AND THE PRECIPITATION WAS 1.14 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. A RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE OF 23 DEGREES WAS TIED ON THE 27TH...THE LOW PREVIOUSLY OCCURRED IN 1991. OCTOBER...THE TEMPERATURE RETURNED TO ABOVE NORMAL WITH 1.9 DEGREES ABOVE AND THE PRECIPITATION CONTINUED TO BE BELOW NORMAL WITH 0.76 INCHES BELOW THE CLIMATOLOGICAL NORMAL. A NEW RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE WAS SET ON THE 8TH WITH 20 DEGREES...THE PREVIOUS RECORD LOW FOR THE DATE WAS 21 SET IN 1990. NOVEMBER...NO DAILY TEMPERATURE OR PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET OR TIED. HOWEVER...A WARMER AND WETTER THAN NORMAL MONTH WAS EXPERIENCED. THE AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE WAS 3.9 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL AND THE PRECIPITATION WAS 1.60 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL. DECEMBER...SOMEONE LEFT THE FRIDGE DOOR OPEN...THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF -1.4 DEGREES WAS A DEPARTURE OF -8.6 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.
