Snowstorm
February 23-26, 2007
A strong and slow moving winter storm moved from Kansas to Milwaukee where it stalled. The
sluggish movement of the storm provided Minnesota with a prolonged off-and-on snow event
that lasted portions of four days. The total snowfall at the Twin Cities International Airport for the
storm through 10am on Monday, February 26 was 9.1 inches. This included the sleet during the
evening of February 23.
Farther to the south, Iowa was plagued by an ice storm that knocked out power to a quarter of
a million customers, possibly the most in that state's history.
On the plus side, this storm brought some badly needed moisture to central Minnesota,
with some locations reporting over one inch of liquid equivalent in the snow. Far northern
Minnesota counties received between 0.25 and 1.00 inch of water equivalent with this snowfall.
Listed below are snowfall totals courtesy the National Weather Service. The National Weather Service Offices in the region also posted web articles about this event including Chanhassen , Duluth, La Crosse ,
Grand Forks and
Sioux Falls.
