Warm 2006 in the Twin Cities
Not only was December 2006 one of the ten warmest Decembers in the modern record in the Twin Cities, but the entire year was among the top five warmest as well. 2006 finished as the 3rd warmest year back to 1891 in the Twin Cities. This comes on the heels of 2005, which was the 4th warmest year on record. The yearly average for 2006 was heavily influenced by the warmest January in 160 years and mild overnight minimums.
The normal annual (1971-2000) temperature for the Twin Cities is 45.4 degrees.
