Strong Winds: November 29, 2002

Strong westerly winds struck Minnesota on November 29th, bowling over Holiday decorations on the bare frozen lawns around the Twin Cities. The strong winds were enough to break up the ice on Lake Gervais north of St. Paul. Ice also broke up due to the strong winds on some of the bays at Lake Minnetonka as well. These strong winds ushered some of the coldest air of the season so far and the mercury dipped to the single digits in the Twin Cities by Tuesday December 3rd, and -22 at Cook Minnesota.

Listed below is information from a National Weather Service Public information statement about the strong winds.
