Windy Day Across Minnesota:
November 9, 2005

A strong pressure gradient from a deep low pressure center over Canada and a high pressure area over Montana casued high winds over the upper midwest. The strong winds began behind the passage of a cold front as it moved to the east across Minnesota during the evening hours of November 8th. Gusty winds continued during the day on November 9th. The peak gust reported in Minnesota was 60 MPH at Moorhead. By evening the winds subsided and cooler air settled in. The Twin Cities finally saw a 28 degree minimum temperature, ending the longest stretch of above 28 degree temperatures on record. The new record is 227 days from March 26, 2005 to November 9, 2005.

Listed below are National Weather Service Statements about the strong winds.
